I am a dad. When we had kids and they were newborns, things were pretty easy. When they started talking, that was not much of a problem. When they started thinking for themselves, that's when things got a little dicey for me. I remember sitting at the dinner table one night and looking at my 7 year old son thinking…
How was he processing life? How was he seeing the world? Our son was such a great kid, but he never shared much about himself. Not to us, not to anyone as far as we could tell. Ultimately, I wanted to know what was in the minds and hearts of my children. What makes them who they are? What passions and desires are waiting to be unlocked inside of them? Sometimes it can feel as though we are spending time together, but not really learning about each other.
So I had a thought..."We need a plan to get us all talking and learning more about each other. There is good stuff in those little heads and I would like to get it out.” So, I started writing questions for us to discuss at dinner. Before long, the “Here’s a Question” project was born!
The purpose of this project is to unlock the dialogue many families, including ours, struggle to engage in. We live in a culture that moves us toward isolation and concealment. Our goal is to see families break the trend and grow closer through great conversations. Children express themselves in many ways, they are all different. But unlocking a great conversation can sometimes be challenging.
All of our efforts at Here’s a Question are designed to make your family laugh and enjoy quality time together. Whether it be around the dinner table, riding in the car or anywhere you spend time together.
Our hope is that your quality time will be enhanced and that your family will enjoy sharing, laughing, and learning about each other. We’ve found that as the kids become more comfortable answering fun questions it paves the way for us to approach the more difficult questions in life.
We assembled a great little team and we hope you enjoy this project as much as we do. Connect with us on social media and join our 3 for Thursday email to stay current on great resources to enhance your family time!
