Try this fun activity with your child while tucking them in or reading to them at night. Shel Silverstein is one of our favorite authors and poets. We took an excerpt from his book A light in the Attic and added some fun questions for you to ask your child at the end. We hope you enjoy!
Zebra Question by Shel Silverstein
I [ a young boy] asked the zebra,
Are you black with white stripes?
Or white with black stripes?
And the zebra asked me,
Are you good with bad habits?
Are you bad with good habits?
Are you noisy with quiet times?
Or are you quiet with noisy times?
Are you happy with with some sad days?
Or are you sad with some happy days?
Are you neat with some sloppy ways?
Or are you sloppy with some neat ways?
And on and on and on and on
And on and on he went.
I’ll never ask a zebra about stripes
So how about you?
Are you neat with some sloppy ways? Or are you sloppy with some neat ways?
Are you noisy with some quiet with some noisy times? Or are you noisy with some quiet times?
Are you happy with some sad days? Or are you sad with some happy days?
If you were the zebra, What questions would you ask the boy?
